SUMMER TRAP LEAGUE
RULES FOR 2010
STARTS: APRIL 7, 2010
1. League
starting time is 5:00 p.m. cut off time is 8:00 p.m. sharp for team
scores. It is the option of the Host
club to allow shooters to sign up to shoot for their average only up to 8:30
P.M. Each club has the option to start
earlier.
2. If a
weather or trap problem arises, the teams will go back to the club that had the
problem for a make-up shoot. All
completed scores count up to the problem.
It is the decision of the club representative to cancel the shoot
and reschedule. Only the shooters that are signed up and have money paid by cut
off time of 8:00 P.M. will be eligible to shoot make up. If you cannot be present for the scheduled
make up, your money can be refunded. The
make up is to be made on the next round of the regular schedule. Your first shoot of the night is scheduled
shoot and the second shoot is for make up.
3. A
shooter must make 1 shoot by the 6th week in order to count for team
score and must make 13 shoots for the Shoot-Off. A shooter must sign up for one club only and
may not change while this league is going on.
4. All
shooters must shoot 25 targets at each shoot.
Your first shoot will cost $ 17.00 ( $ 3.50 for
targets, $13.50 for awards). The remaining shoots will be $ 4.00. JR shooters will pay $ 12.00 ($ 2.50 for
targets, $9.50 for awards), remaining shoots will be $
3.00. This will allow $ 0.50 return per
shooter to league for prizes per shoot.
Sub-Jr. are 12-14
years , Jrs
are 15, 16 and 17 years old.
5. Failure to fire: 2 gun or 2 shell
malfunction per 25 birds. NO
EXCEPTIONS. For every broken bird or
trap malfunction, the shooter may clear the trap house. .
6. Shot
sizes will be 7 ½ , 8, 8 ½ , or 9's in trap loads not
exceeding 1350 feet per second (3 DRAM LOADS)
7. Gun
cannot be mounted until the person before you has
fired.
8. All
squads will be shot in numerical order whether they are full or not!
9. League
shooters have preference over any practice shooter when filling out a
squad. Each club is required to have two
traps and must use both traps from the start of the shoot. There is to be no “coaching” of any shooters
at the line of shooting.
10. No
league shooter may shoot a practice round until after the league shooter has
completed his round for score.
11. There
is no limit on the number of shooters for each team.
It is not required that each shooter of each
team be a member of that club. The
league is open to the public.
12. The top 6 scores will determine the
number of total broken birds. If the
team only has 5 shooters or
less, they will be counted as “0”. Total birds determines placement of teams.
13. Score sheets will be maintained by all clubs. It will be the responsibility of each club to mail weekly score sheets to the official scorer by Thursday of each week.
14. Summer League Classification will be (AAA 97.0 – 100 ), (AA .94 – 96.9), (A 91.0 - 93.9),
(B 88.0 - 90.9), (C 83.0 - 87.9), (D 82.9 - under). Individual classes will be determined after the last shoot; AAA, AA-A-B-C-D. It will be the responsibility of the JR (15, 16 and 17) - LADIES, SR VET, (70 and over), VETERAN (65 to 69) to notify the Official Scorekeeper of their classification. Sub-Jr. are 12 -14 years of age.
15. When a
contestant’s score qualifies for more than one trophy in the same event, the
responsibility is on the shooter to choose which trophy he or she will shoot
for. The shooter’s failure to notify the
Official Scorekeeper within 15 minutes after posting the last event, gives the
Scorekeeper the authority to determine the trophy he or she will shoot for. All
classes will be cash prizes.
16. High Average - Sr. Vet, High Vet, High Lady, High JR and Sub-Jr. can receive only one High League Trophy (money permitting; it could be shooting bag or cash). High League trophy and runner up will be awarded to the winning team.
17. 50
target shoot-off for all individual classes; they must be shot 25 from each
trap. A 25 bird
shoot-off for all ties. After
shooting 25 birds and a tie still occurs, the next 25 (50 round of shoot off)
will be determined by the longest run of that round. All shooting taking place
at 16 yard line. All ties will be
shot off subsequently. When forming
squads of shooters for shoot offs, each squad can consist of different class
shooters.
18. SHOOT-OFF TIME: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Cut off time for sign up is 1:00 p.m.
Club hosting the shoot off must have two traps and must
be a member of the league.
Club
hosting shoot off will be the club holding 1st shoot of the summer
league.

SHOOT-OFF this
year is hosted by Weedsport on Saturday, August 21, 2010.

The high average
league trophy (includes highest average shooter, Ladies, Sr. Vet, and Vets)
will be figured on highest 15 scores out of 18 shoots. You must shoot a minimum of 15 scores to
qualify. The value of each high average
trophy will be determined by the league officers, club representatives and the
amount of funds available at the end of the season. The day of the shoot off
prizes are awarded, for first, second and third place in classes AAA to
D. Finances permitting. High Gun of the
day, Sr. Vet, vet, Ladies, Sub Jr. and Jr. will be added.
21.
To be eligible
for classification, you must make at least 13 of the 18 shoots. If you don’t make the 13 shoots you will be
classified Open Class for the shoot off.
Jr. and Sub Jr. shooters must make 10 shoots to
be classified. Only the highest 10
scores will be used for Jrs and Sub Jrs. Average. Each
shooter will shoot only in the class that his or her average qualifies them
for. You will not be able to upgrade in
classes by means of “known ability”.
22. The scorer is to call lost birds, broken targets and failure to fire. If you shoot at a broken target, you must shoot it over regardless of the results. You may clear the trap house if you have a broken bird. Orange dome targets will be shot.
23. The
five shooters on the line do not need to be from the same club.
24. The
Rules Committee shall have the final say in all matters governing this trap
league, which consists of President, Vice President, Scorekeeper and representatives from
each club. The scorekeeper’s fee is
$200.00 for the summer season.
25. It is
the shooter’s responsibility to notify the Official Scorekeeper of their first
25, 50, straight, etc. and/or club representative.
26. All
clubs will be responsible for maintenance to their trap and trap house before
the shoot.
27. Distance
stakes for targets are recommended (49 - 52 yard target will be thrown). Left and Right stakes are recommended.
28. The club allotment of $ 5.00 per registered shooter
will be appropriated from league fees for shoot-off party, and will be paid at
end of league, $6.00 fee for guests per person.

29. YOU
MUST BE ON THE CLUB GROUNDS TO SIGN UP OR BE SIGNED UP !
THIS
MEANS NO SIGNING UP OF FRIENDS THAT ARE NOT THERE !
SAFETY: It is the Club
Management’s responsibility to remove any shooter who is conducting himself in
an unsafe manner. There will be flags in
all the trap houses. EYE AND EAR
PROTECTION IS MANDATORY FOR ALL SHOOTERS.
