Greetings from the President,
Well, eight months have flown by since I took over the office of
President of the Falcon Sportsmen Club. We have been
rather busy this summer. We had the Prize Party in March
and it was again a resounding success. Maybe next year
more of you will want to take part in the fun and festivities.
April brought the beginning of the Summer Tri County Trap League
as well as the Central New York Trap League. They are both
completed now, and we can hold our heads up, as we did rather
well.
The annual fish derby was held in June and we had a very nice
day and a very successful day for all, participants and workers.
The club held the annual chicken BBQ and 50 bird shoot again
this August and we had 55 shooters that took part for a fun day.
We would have liked to see more of our members here taking part
in the BBQ though, maybe next time. We also took a trap
team (30 people) to Carthage Rod and Gun Club for a 100 bird
shoot, again in August this year and we won first place, beating
Carthage team by one bird. So, there is another trophy on
the wall at the club for all to see, with the team listed and
their scores. We have won four out of five years at this
100 bird shoot.
We also hosted the shoot off for the Tri County Summer League at
our club this year on August 23rd, and we
entertained 93 shooters for a successful shoot and delicious
barbecue chicken dinner.
The club is gearing up for another annual golf tournament on
September 6th, with a delicious dinner to follow at
the club. This is also something to keep in mind for next
year. Maybe more teams will take part, always welcome.
Some of us will not be available the weekend of the tournament,
as we will be at the Central New York shoot off at Pathfinder
Club on the 7th
of September. All twelve clubs in this league, north and
south, will be in attendance. There are over 700 shooters
in the whole league, but normally only 400 or so attend the
shoot off. That should also be a fun day for all.
We are now looking forward to the annual turkey shoot at the
club, which will be held on the 19th of October.
Hope to see many of you that day. Please make yourselves
known to me. I will be there all day.
We have also improved the club this year in many ways so far.
We have new targets on the archery range, we have a new BBQ pit
with roof overhead that is just about finished. We have
used it a couple of times so far and it was very nice. I
know that in case of inclement weather, the roof will be very
much appreciated by the men cooking chicken etc.
Please stop by the club at any time and say
hello.
